Ghost Town Cochran

Ghost Town Cochran AZ.

Peggy and I traveled 200 miles round trip in the desert to find a ghost town named Cochran. We found the site listed in the internet postings, we found the 1800, charcoal ovens. They are well preserved, however we could only view from afar as the terrain is extreme and we did not want to tear up the FJ. We did find the spot said to be Cochran, however it did not appear to be normal for a place that buildings had once existed. There were no signs of foundations, only one small slab found in a site not far from the noted spot of the town, while metal detecting there were nowhere the amount of nail one usually encounters in a ghost town.

The surrounding sites were breath taking, the Gila river was running and we experienced the Mesquite arbor over the trail. The trail in and out is a dusty old dirt and rock road with sharp bends and hills. Picked up new "desert pin stripes" on the FJ. Long day good time, nothing found metal detecting with the exception of a old 45 slug and a new penny somebody dropped.
